The Color Purple
 
I have been thinking about the color purple
In particular this quote from
The inimitable and amazing
Alice Walker: 
 
“I think it pisses God off if you walk by the color purple in a field somewhere and don't notice it.”
 
Purple is a secondary color
Meaning it is made by blending 
Two primary colors in equal portions
50% RED
Plus
50% BLUE
Equals 
100% PURPLE
 
In the United States 
The Country is 50/50
And now
The Senate is 50/50
So we are no longer 
Republican Red
And/or
Democrat Blue
Now,
WE LITERALLY ARE PURPLE
 
And, like all secondary colors
Our existence is dependent upon 
The balanced blending 
Of the two primary colors
 
From this point of view
We The People 
Are actually meaningless without the polarity
There is a dynamic equilibrium
That is the essence of secondary colors
Understanding this 
Is the way forward

So let’s begin 2021
Noticing Purple….
The purple of bruises
The purple of bravery (as in the Purple Heart)
The purple of nobility 
The purple of calming energy
The purple of the crown chakra
That allows us to access higher consciousness
 
We are in the crucible 
Of learning how to relate
In a new way
To our selves
And to each other
Let’s embrace purple
Let’s notice what we have in common
Rather than what divides us
 
The magic of Purple
And all secondary colors
Is that when you blend them 
WITH the primary colors
You get tertiary colors
Which opens an unlimited spectrum of colorful possibilities
 
Here’s to Purple
And the collective power of
POSITIVE
Society Building in 2021!
