Breaking up with the patriarchy For decades There comes a point In all break ups When the list of grievances is long When defensiveness is the norm When tensions only escalate When resentments become The common ground And every effort made To get back to A place of harmony Fails There comes a point In all break ups When the wisest course of action Requires the greatest courage There comes a point In all break ups When the ending becomes the beginning This is the point of transformation This is the point of sacred evolution This is the point of opportunity Humanity has arrived at this point Courage, my friends, courage It is time to recognize that Despite its power ending The patriarchy Is unyielding It is time to accept that To relentlessly fight For patriarchal change Is fruitless Which leaves us in the Bardo The In-Between Where it is dark And we are unmoored Unrecognizable even to ourselves Because the patriarchy shaped us all And even its death throes Impacts us still Catalyzing this collective identity crisis Who are we now? Who will we become? Courage, my friends, courage The beginning is in the ending There is a surrender that is righteous A surrender that allows the focus to shift From fighting to healing From killing to creating From destroying to rebuilding This is the road less travelled This is the journey of Higher Consciousness And it is now solidifying Beneath our feet Showing us the way forward If we but choose to Set foot upon this path Despite our seeming lack of control We have the agency To recognize the fact that under the patriarchy We are all wounded We are all traumatized We have the agency to ignore The patriarchy’s habitual Siren calls And break the endless mental loops that Limit our capacity for Love and Community We have the agency To embrace this Once in a lifetime Cosmic opportunity To create light from darkness By employing the The greatest healing balm of all Forgiveness Forgive everything Choose a fresh start Choose to live in the good reality Choose to be a maker, a shaper Of this new reality Where LOVE is the guide Love of Self AND Love of Other Let it all go And know that Every time you falter Every time you get stuck Every time you fall down Every time you lose your way Because the rage is overwhelming And the despair debilitating And the anger depressing And the resistance frustrating You have the agency To find your way back to The Path This next part of the journey Is not about being right Or being perfect It is about course correction Because we learn by making mistakes And then trying again and then again and again It is about course correction Because we have the agency To take the gut-wrenching pain Of breaking up And transform it into the fuel needed To propel us forward It is time to turn the shit to compost It is time to take the frayed ends Of the cords that the patriarchy Used to bind us And tie them together So we can weave a new vision A collective vision In which there is truly a seat at the table for everyone We have the agency The path is before us Courage, my friends, courage The beginning is in the ending |
